Reading and Loving
Since the last two or so reviews I’ve done have kinda been stinkers for me, I had to regroup and prove to myself that I am indeed enjoying books ATM. And I realized, there is a whole lotta book lovin’ going on at any given moment in my daily routine. Right now, I’ve got two really damn fine books at hand at my work desk. At home, I left behind another on my nightstand. That’s three damn fine books I’m reading then (well four, no five…damn, just a LOT, ‘kay?). Woot! So up and coming in the book lovin’ we’ve got

All I can say is thaaaank yooooouuuuuuuuuuu, Wendy! I never realize quite how much I am craving this author’s books till I pick one up and crack it open. I think we’ve got another hit with this one. Fans of her Nightcreature series – you will want to check this one out.

Wowza. People told me this was good. I read reviews, I’d perused customer discussions on Amazon and had more word of mouth goodness after that. I am an incessantly nosy person when it comes to authors and books though, so I went and done did an interview with the author. And that night after the chat posted here, I started reading Vulnerable.
Wowza.
Major book pimpage here, folks. Major. Now, I hesitate to pimp in this manner, because mentioning Anita Blake seems to bring the hellhounds of the internet a-storming down your door, but if you like the original six-eight books in the Blake series, you may very well like Vulnerable. I dare say you will probably like it even more. Much more. It is definitely very different in a lot of ways from Blake, there is such a spellbinding emotional connection that I established almost right away with the characters. This is perhaps one of the best books I’ve ever read in regards to amazing character development. At the rate it’s going, it’s getting a full score of excellent and highly recommended.

I’m supposed to be reading Shades of Dark. I got it in plenty of time too, months ago. I went out and bought Gabriel’s Ghost though, even though I was assured Shades could read quite well on its own. I’d heard it through the grapevine that Ghost was somewhat excellent and had to give it a go first, but not till after I’d already started Shades and realized I was probably missing out on a lot from Ghost.
I’m SO glad I did! Sully, yep, yep. He is indeed as hot as I’ve heard. Maybe there’ll be a duel for his hand now? I know of a few peeps that think they have this silly claim on him. *whistles* I mean, really folks, he spoke to me, practically leaped out of the pages and…proclaimed his love for Chaz. *g* But back to the real goods, this book…it is wonderful and I’m looking forward to picking up where I left off with Shades, to continue their wonderful story.
So it really has been good reads here at Lurv and hopefully I’ll be bringing teh reviews soon. Till then, stay classy Blogosphere.

Oh noes, not another one that thinks she can have MY Sully?
I am glad you are reading it before Shades, it is the right thing to do, it sets the whole story – you will see. I think Shades without Ghost would be incomprehensible.
I think authors are pressured (maybe?) to provide sequels that work no matter if you’ve read the previous installments or not. So I started Shades and was like, whoa, horsey. Had me a little precog and went back to Gabriel’s Ghost and MAN! Whoever starts with Shades is cray-zay. S’all I’m sayin’.
Now, I am doing this for your own good, but really, Chaz has this tight claim on Sully. I think she’d start kicking asses, the hell with taking names. Heehee!
Must find out more about this Vulnerable you’ve piqued my interest.
I’m so glad you enjoy VULNERABLE! It’S an excellent book, my favorite of Amy’s series. I don’t know how far in you are, but Adrian and Green… wowza! :-DD The Anita Blake influence is more present in the two subsequent books, but there is sitll no unceasing whning and blah-blah-blah, and the relationships between the characters remain central to the story. How refreshing. You see that Amy cares deeply for all of these characters so you care about them, too. And there is definite growth in every book.
Oh, and I wanted to say I added Gabriel’s Ghost and Shades of Dark to my wish list. If I can grow up and become reasonable, I’ll wait in the fall to buy them though because my TBR pile is totally out of control.
Lesley, should you get it I look forward to your opinion!
Mary, BEST of luck waiting on adding them to that TBR pile! I hear ya though. I’m actually trying not to add books to my pile too. Lol, not ones I’d have to buy anyway.
And YES, Adrian and Green are AMAZING! Two of the best heroes I’ve ever had the pleasure of reading. I think you hit the proverbial nail head though; the author really does seem to care about her characters. Great point. :o)
I cannot WAIT for Lori Handerland’s new series to begin. This one is on priority wait for me… you MUST, MUST write a review of this one…. I’m waiting with bated breath ;)
Hilcia, I will definitely be writing a review for Doomsday! I keep thinking, if it’s possible we won’t be having any more Nightcreature books, at least we’ll have Elizabeth Phoenix and Jimmy Sanducci. I couldn’t help but skip around a bit when I first opened it. My heart is just breaking for both characters in this one. Elizabeth has a wicked funny sense of humor too. :)
Hah, you’re welcome, K! :D SO glad you liked it!!
I haven’t read Vulnerable, or Gabriel’s Ghost but I HAVE to read Gabriel’s Ghost because I keep hearing it’s really good!
Isn’t Linnea’s books wonderful? I have such a mad crush on Sully! He’s mine, sorry. :P
Wendy, if you get it I hope you enjoy! Sully is quite steamy lol.
Katie, I understand. We feel these things so strongly and it just sweeps us away…sigh. Chaz is looking into loaning him out. I talked her into it. :D
;-) So glad you’re enjoying it, Kenda–hope it keeps up with the good impression.
