SYTYCD: Top 16

First of all:

What a RELIEF!

Last week’s show left a bad taste in the mouth, but last night was back to pure entertainment.

Chelsie Hightower and Mark Kanemura did a great hip-hop routine choreographed by Napoleon and Tabitha. Lots of emotion, told a compelling story and I jumped all over my hubby and screamed, “That’s you and me!” Yeah, my guy’s a workaholic, I could definitely relate. Then I started looking for hidden cameras in our house. *g* JK.

I have to say, I am just loving me some Katee Shean and Joshua Allen! I was like, OMG, look at that dress! Ya know, thought hubby would appreciate that. He was like, LOOK at his pants! And of course I had to. But the dance, yeah, it was hot! Loved it, thought they did a great job and choreographers Tony Meredith and Melanie LaPatin always do wonderful Latin routines. It was sexy, entertaining and while maybe not as on fire as some in the past, still very fun to watch.

Kherington Payne and Stephen “Twitch” Boss’s hip-hop routine, choreographed by Tabitha and Napoleon, was pretty good for the most part. My only crit is that some of the moves looked like cheerleader routine moves (no offense to the ladies on the sidelines, I used to be one and loved it) as opposed to dance moves and those orange jump suits were horrible. I get why they were wearing them, the whole criminal element, but dayum, they were distracting as hell. Still, some very decent moves there and they’re a great couple to watch.

I’d like to give an honorable mention to Comfort Fedoke and Christopher Jarosz’s jazz number, choreographed by the ever delectable Tyce Diorio. It didn’t quite get danced into awesomeness, but it was very decent and shock me shock me with that deviant behavior when frickin’ Marilyn Manson’s Beautiful People song was used. I loved it. Despite the fact that the dancers could’ve done better, yes, I loved it. Managed to miss the judges comments, but I left the room on Nigel’s somewhat disappointing sounding critique opener. And hey, now we know where those costumes for the season 3 Top 10 group routine went. *g* At least they’re getting reused. Hate to waste.

OMG! The pants! They were indecent… and I loved them! I feel like such a perv drooling over Joshua.

I was so glad to see the quality go up this week. Also, as much as I love her choreo, it was much more pleasant without Mia harshing on all the girls. The rotating judge this week (Adam?) was great. He did a wonderful job of giving compliments and constructive suggestions. He did this for everyone, no matter how fabulous or lacking their performance. He is the kind of judge I love having for choir competitions. You know he is supportive and that his comments will make you better performers.

Shannon, yes! I forgot to mention Adam. He was so refreshing and he delivers his crits like a friggin’ adult. I was very relieved to see him on the judges panel.

*giggle* Joshua was so proud of those pans and his butt too! And his dad was funny and sweet too. I loved how proud he looked for his son.

Oh man, I am such an addict for this show. Even my students know how much I love it. If you were to ask any of them where they thought Ms. Mueller was at this very moment they would say “Watching SYTYCD. DUH!!!”

Mia Michaels and Wade Robson have scary minds. Their thought process is beyond anything I can imagine. I think that is what makes their choreo so amazing.

Oh, and did Nigel take a happy pill before the show last night? Seriously, he was really nice… for him.

OMG! I actually watched that last night!! And I was sure it was a rerun from another season or something – tells you how I never watch TV. My dad liked thos dance shows but I don’t think he keeps schedule either; he just zaps and pick whatever is on.

Thanks for providing me with part of the first half of the show! I started watching when the ballroom couple with a black lady came on the floor. All I remember was how stiff she looked and how dry their teeth must be getting. They’d be the one I would eliminate. I loooooooved Chealsea and mark’s hip-hop routine. And thanks to your video, now I even understand why the heck the guy was wearing a suit when it seems so unfitting with the style of dancing :-D.

Katee and Joshua were absolutely fantastic too. That dress! OMG so sexy. And I noticed the pants right away. And the buns that filled it :-p. He doesn’t seem to have the usual body type for latino dances – usually the men are taller and thinner (well, I think?)- but holy shit, did he pull it off.

Amazing how different the people are on and off the dance floor :-D.

Shannon, isn’t it nice when folks know you so well, lol? I think my hubby would answer the same thing this time of year! I thought for sure that was a Tyce Diorio routine last night for the elimination show opener, but it was Michaels…huh, I’m slipping lol. Must watch MORE SYTYCD.

Nigel was pretty nice. Some of his comments the week prior got on my nerves; they were childish.

Mary, that poor couple with the dry, wide smiles had to do the quick step! They say on that show it’s the kiss of death and unfortunately they were right. The girl, Chelsea, got eliminated, and Chris of the African jazz routine went too. Not surprised at Chris, but am surprised at Chelsea. I don’t think they took into consideration ALL that she’d accomplished to that point. Going on all of that, I would not have thought she’d get eliminated.

I personally don’t mind that Chelsea went home… didn’t really like her. Chris wasn’t a surprise either.

I just love Mark… did I mention that?!? LOL :) I also wonder what’s his partner, Chelsie, relationship to Benji and Lacey’s family… apparently, their father is once again in the audience and this time, he’s rooting for Chelsie :P
