Oopsies and a Contest – Magic Gives

2008 May 28

I’d meant to announce a Magic Gives Contest to celebrate my new wild and unbridled passion for Andrews’s Magic series (wouldn’t it be great to do a clinch cover of Kate and Curran? Just for kicks and giggles? Yes? NO? Hmm, just a thought…) at the same time as my review. Oopsie numero 1: I accidentally ordered two copies of Magic Bites from Amazon. And then I got sick and was kind of doing the review on plenty of OTC meds and sleepy, snot-riddled thoughts. Oopsie numero 2: I plain forgot to offer up the contest.

So I’m offering one copy each of Magic Bites and Magic Burns to the person who leaves the best suggestions/comment below on new “words of power” that Kate could use. And I want to hear why they’d be useful or how she could use them (No long deets necessary, short and sweet is fine. Bonus points for humor). Let’s get all the submission comments in by tomorrow night, Thursday, 6:00 p.m. U.S. Eastern standard time. I’ll pick two to go head to head with one another and we’ll vote in the comments section. Winner announced this Friday or Saturday. Books mailed by Monday. Hell, I might extend some of those deadlines too, ya never know. And if we don’t get any takers, the books will go back in the prize-mobile. No biggie.

So, anyone out there that hasn’t bought the books yet? Your first copies getting all ragged and unbound? Yeah, “perfect” binding my ass. Either way, this is your chance!

Psssssst! If you’ve not read the books, “words of power” are simply things like Kneel, which enabled Kate to send an entire army to their knees, compelled to obey that word when she spoke it. Obey is actually another, whereby she got a certain Pack member to “come to heel”. That’s all. Simple and have fun with it!

I was looking at the profile pic on Ilona’s blog, and I’ve decided to go the Monty Python and the Holy Grail route and suggest “bunny”. Imagine — Kate says “bunny” and an adorable, fluffy white rabbit immediately appears and lures the enemy into a false sense of security. It then proceeds to pounce upon the enemy and decimate it in a vicious attack. Quite efficient, really.

Rylie! I LOVE the Bunny word of power! Good call, and what a way to end MP and the Holy Grail! I never looked at the white ones quite the same after. Yeah, I know what them wascally wabbits are thinking. Ha!

Katie, bless you a million times into the third Magic book, may it come with plenty of intimate moments with our leading lady and man. Way to keep the sex petitioning (sexitioning?) alive!

    Word of Power for Kate

    1. Horny – When this word is spoken, everyone is immediately horny and can not control themselves.
This word can be useful for when times get hard and Kate doesn’t want to waste time trying to turn on her man. She can just use the word HORNY and no foreplay or trying needed!

This is a new series for me so I haven’t read them (I see a stop at the bookstore on the way home will be a necessity). Not sure if Kate is ever physically threatened/attacked with weapons, but if she is, she’d say “remove” and whatever appendage or body part the attacker is using to hold the weapon would be immediately severed from their body.

Oh hey!!! You guys, it really worked!! No wonder I popped in over here!!! LOL
    I was called twice? :P

I say one of her word powers should be “SIC!”
Not original though… came from the Fudge series by Judy Blume.
Whoever she says SIC to, will attack the other person.

I’d love to win those books, but Rylie’s idea is the best so far :)

When I think of Monty Python and the word bunny, I think of the killer bunny. So if Kate says “bunny!” a killer white fluffy bunny with huge teeth would eat her enemy.
    :D

Thanks for all the submissions so far! LillyK, hold off if you want to–you might win the books here. Or you can just have an extra copy too. :P

Bunnyb, sorry for summoning you accidentally, but welcome anyway! Now please just don’t attack yet, ‘kay? :) Let’s wait for my nemesis…whoever it is. I know they’re out there somewhere…
