Various Reviews, From Dead to Worse
I can’t take it, I just can’t take it! I had to go searching for some reviews for Harrison’s 8th Sookie Stackhouse. Here’s a few collected links that I could find:
www.dondammassa.com (third from the top at time of post, but they add more so you might have to scroll down)
Harriet Klausner’s review which we all know is, well, meh…be careful, I haven’t read her review, but she’s known for giving out spoilers sans warnings, not to mention being wrong with some details. (ETA: A search on Harrison’s board told me that YES, there are major spoilers in HK’s review. YOU decide if you want them or not. We’re adults after all.)
And oh, here’s a treat, – you can take a peek at Romantic Time’s review at Harrison’s own message board. There’s a big ‘ole spoiler alert, but honestly I didn’t see what the big deal was (look for the post by member Jackie K….hmmm, Jackie Kessler by any chance??):
ETA! Found another review as of today (4/30) from LoveVampires.com.
ETA! Another review from Darque Reviews.
ETA! Dear Author’s review.
ETA! To see this blog’s review of From Dead to Worse, click here.
And this one’s not a review, but there was an ARC (with a clear NOT FOR SALE on it. Ms. Harris was not pleased according to her message board) up at EBay. Uh, would you have paid $249.95 for it?! Holy fish on a stick–that’s $250 minus five cents!!!! Hmmm, and the seller makes a habit of selling ARCs, I can see…
From Dead to Worse ARC up for sale
And speaking of, how do you feel about the selling of ARCs? I wouldn’t dare–I respect that Not For Sale stamp too much. But I’ve heard of people sometimes having the permission of the author to do so too. Either way it may happen, what’s your take on selling them?
And sadly, this may be the sparsest little From Dead to Worse post yet.*headdesk* Alas, I can find no other reviews though. Not yet anyway. As soon as I do, I’ll be posting a heads up! In the meantime…oh look! Gratuitous cat pic!

So does that mean you are a fan of these books? I just picked up the first one at the library…….
Ooohhh yes, Ana. I am a fan. Rabid. Adoring. Slurp the crack gravy fan. I adore the combo of elements in this series; mystery, humor, the interesting political movements of the vamps–all of it.
Hope you enjoy the first book!
ooo, sounds fab!!! Can’t wait! Oh, I got my copy of the If You Dare in the post today! Yupiiii!!!
Sounds like you’re in for some all ’round good reading, Ana!
Hi. I have reviewed books for local pubs before and lucky me, I got on a couple ARC publishers list. Usually nothing I would like, occaisonally something I enjoy. On friday, I got a package and opened it up and almost started to cry. I’m a big Harris Fan, hang out at the site all the. When I opened up the book and had a full blown hard bound copy of From Dead To Worse, the book I’ve been waiting for since the day in may 2007 when I finished All together dead, it was like opening the holy grail.
I am staying away from Ms. Harris’s website until the ban on spoilers is lifted, 2 weeks after the book hits the stores because I’m terrifed I’ll let something slip and get banned for life.
Let me just say, there were some surprises in FDTW, and I for one was thrilled the direction Sookie’s love life took. YAY!
By the way, I got Lover Enshrined too.
Not as thrilled as with FDTW
Laurie, you are so luuuckyyyy! Thanks for the tiny look into your thoughts on the book! I’m so ready for FDTW I could scream.
Pretty dang cool on Lover Enshrined too–you say you’re not as thrilled with it though. Does that mean you’ve finished reading that one?
Kmont,
Hey…love your blog.
You should have access to my email address. Shoot me a pm if you want some spoilers (not for publication, just for personal). Be specific as to how much or little you want to know.
I’d love to hear from you.
Bye,
Laurie
Laurie, thanks so much for the offer. ;) I’m actually trying to keep myself spoiler free for this book, lol. It’s probably my all-time favorite series and if I happened to run across one or two, I’d be fine, but if I can I want to be as surprised as possible. But thank you again, very nice of you to offer.
Believe me I understand. It is my favorite series, Charlaine is an amazingly gracious and approachable writer. I”m proud to be a member of her fan club The Charlatans, and
when ever she answers one of my posts on her Forums (and you NEVER know when she will pop into a discussion, but she must have clones to produce the amount of work and time spent on her website) I get shivers like a little girl.
The first time she wrote me I did a little happy dance in front of my husband.
Given the amount of promo you are giving out at your website have you requested ARC’s and promo from the publicists at the major authors house? Also, any chance you are going to RWT convention this summer? I’m going to try to go.
I’m working on an all Paranormal Romance website…do you like wordpress? Is it easy to use? I’m kind of in first grade with html.
All the best
Sorry for the late reply, Laurie. I do like WordPress and fine it very easy to use. I’m no tech guru and so I’m just coasting along ATM on one of their free templates. I think the one I use must be the most popular, lol. If I ever get the time to settle down and learn some HTML, CSS and such I might upgrade and give it a whirly-do. For now though, I’m just all aflutter enough when I use HTML to bold and italicize things. ;) I did design my header though and that’s one bonus of this layout; being able to customize the header banner. Best of luck with your website!
But what is the RWT convention? I may have heard of it, but my acronym translator must have gone offline, lol.
