Shifters Gone Wild
Well, we’ve always known romance books are skating closer and closer to the risqué edge when it comes to sexual imagery, and erotic and erotic romance covers certainly dive right over that edge with glee. Hey, there’s nothing wrong with that. I’ve never had any problem taking a book out of my purse in a busy doctor’s waiting room or long line at the bank and showing the world what I’m reading. Crap, like I’m going to have time to read when I get home anyway. The bank it is.
I think I may have finally found one I’d get one of those book covers for though. They make them in trade size, right? Because I really want to try out Kate Douglas’s writing after much crazy gaga ado over her Wolf Tales series over at my message board. Naturally, I thought I’d start at book one. And whoa…it’s the first one I noticed on her website (upper left if you’re agoggle over the imagery) and it is smokin’! So much so that I thought, This can’t be right. Have we gone this far with covers already? And surely the great *snort* state of Indiana will find it objectionable if indeed erotic and romance books fall under their knife.
Warning, full frontal nudity straight ahead, er, down, all-you-under-18’s-turn-around-and-leave!!!

And this is what I found whilst venturing out for my first Kate Douglas:
Do you see what I see? Now, I’m no prude, but I was like, Whoa, dayum and what-du-hell?! And then, yes, I was like, One order please! And then I was like, What’s that on the bottom, behind his deliciously flexed hip? And then I thought maybe I was being too silly. I try hard to curtail my silliness…sometimes. And I just had to see what was posted on Amazon (knowing full well this could not be the same cover posted there), and here it is as seen there:
Well that’s a tad bit better, maybe now I won’t have to get that book cover. Ha! So there, maybe this’ll make up for my not doing a Hump Day Bonus! yesterday. Ms. Douglas, if you’re out there, just gotta say I love your covers. Can’t wait to try out the first Wolf Tales. And a-clickity we go to Amazon…

I’ve read this series up to the most recent book. I won’t be reading it anymore. It’s definitely pushed some of my own personal squick lines. But after the last book, I was really disappointed-so I won’t read KD anymore.
But the covers are really really hot! :P
I’ve heard she uses some interesting words. Hmmmm, will tread with caution. Wonder if she offers some excerpts. I kinda got distracted by that nipple and the possibility that it really was showing on the cover.
LOL! I never even noticed until you pointed it out.
Ames…I’ll go ahead and admit my mind frequents the gutter, lol! I was not surprised it was the first thing I noticed. I’z lost cause :)
KD has excerpts on her site. Most if not all are adult content. You definitely get a very good idea of what goes on in the wolf tales world just from the excerpts. I have Nifty to blame for my WT addiction. I was lucky enough to get them as ebooks from the library otherwise it can get very expensive.
Leslie, I hear ya. I really enjoy trade sized books, bu the cost is still a deterrent for me and I don’t buy that size as much as mass market. Thanks for the tips on the excerpts!
